Choquera is Ireland's only authentic Andalusian bistro, bakery and gourmet shop, bringing the flavours, traditions and warmth of my home in Huelva, southern Spain, to Newport, Co. Tipperary.

My Story

From Andalusia,
with love.

I was born in Huelva, on the southern coast of Spain, where my mother and father both worked in the local market. I grew up surrounded by its aromas, colours and the freshest ingredients, memories that never left me.

With my husband John, I brought those Andalusian traditions to Ireland, and in 2022 our dream, Choquera, became a reality in Newport, Co.
Tipperary.

🍯 Pestiños – crispy fried pastries coated in honey or sugar, flavoured with anise and citrus
🥧 Hornazo (from Huelva) – a sweet, aromatic pastry made with almonds, anise, cinnamon, lemon and filled with cabello de ángel (sweet pumpkin jam)

Hi, I’m the chef behind Choquera 👨‍🍳

I grew up surrounded by the food, traditions and incredible products of Andalusia, and my dream has always been simple:
to bring a little piece of my land to Ireland so more people can experience it.

For me, cooking is not just about recipes.
It’s about roots, memories and passion.

At Choquera I try to share the flavours I grew up with — traditional dishes, the best products from my region, and a small touch of innovation. Always with respect for where they come from.
