At Choquera, every dish we serve, every event we host, and every customer we welcome is part of our story.
What our Customers, have to say
Cinta’s culinary influences date all the way back to her early childhood when, as a baby, her mother – a butcher in the local market – could bring Cinta to work with her each day in a wicker basket, as was the custom at that time due to a lack of available childcare. As soon as she was old enough to walk, she started exploring the other market stalls, touching, smelling, and eating local foods from the region.
Diners heading to Choquera Bakery, Bistro & Gourmet Shop will not only have their taste buds transported to southwestern Spain for the evening. Live performances by Cádiz-born Spanish Guitarist, accompanied by flamboyant Flamenco dancing, which also has its origins in Andalusia, will whip up an atmosphere evocative of a traditional Taperia – not at all what you’d expect to find in a small, yet charming Tipperary town nestled in the heart of the Irish countryside
Our single origin coffee is a journey in every sip—crafted from the finest beans sourced directly from small, sustainable farms in Spain, bringing the bold flavours of Andalusia straight to your cup.
The best cortado you’ll ever have in Ireland—smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced, made with our single origin coffee and a touch of creamy milk, just like you’d find in a cozy café in Andalusia.
The selection of Spanish tapas was absolutely exquisite! Every bite reminded me of my travels through Spain, from the rich Manchego to the sweet perfection of turrón. It was a true culinary adventure!
Spanish food lovers need not necessarily grab their passports and head to the airport this summer in search of gastronomic specialities. Instead, they can embark on a culinary adventure much closer to home by hot footing it to Co. Tipperary and bagging themselves a table at the newly renamed Choquera Bakery, Bistro & Gourmet Shop in Newport
What a fantastic experience! The menu was so thoughtfully curated, and every flavour was spot on. I felt connected to Spanish culture with each sip and bite—a total joy!
At first, we try to do some fusion to offer people what they might be used to, because we’re in a rural area,” she says. “I started introducing Spanish things slowly. We started offering sourdough with serrano ham, garlic and tomato in the morning for breakfast, and then salads with our special homemade dressing for lunch.
I was blown away by the authenticity and quality of every item. The sangria was delightful, and the cheeses—don’t even get me started! It’s like a little taste of Andalusia delivered right to my home.
